Talk About Your Blast from the Past

I recently shared a blog post on r/sewing, and the freakiest thing happened. A girl I knew in middle school recognized me (‽) and wrote me an e-mail. Long story short, she's still awesome and you should be reading her blog: Audie + Eloise.

Sewing Lovers' Club

There's a tiny quilting shop in Airport Plaza! It has rotary blades, stretch needles, and thread. There are also (shitty plastic) sewing machines and fat quarters. I'm considering going back for a portable ironing pad next month.

Tiny pants pattern and tutorial

I couldn't find a free pattern for size 3m knit pants, so I bought a pair at the thrift and traced them off. You can find the pattern here. I bought a bunch of polo shirts on dollar day at the thrift and used them for fabric.

Make sure to use the existing hem.

Turn the pant legs right sides together.  You should see the ugly side of the hem.

Sew the inseams at 1/2 inch and finish the seam allowances. Press.
Turn the legs right side out and put right sides together. Stitch and finish the crotch. Press.
Attach FOE to inside of waist, stretching slightly.
Fold over waistband and stitch down.

Tiny clothes!

No, I'm not expecting. It's a friend of my sister's. I cut the shirts and dress out of leftovers from my dresses, so we'll match. I'll have a tutorial for the pants up later.

Now I don't know what to do with myself

I've been wanting to try new embellishment techniques, so I've started stenciling a collection based on "Ya no Sé Qué Hacer Conmigo" by El Cuarteto de Nos.

Here's my representation of "Ya tuve que ir obligado a misa":

Church of Saint Margarita summer camp 2013

I stenciled the letters and traced and painted the chalice onto a thrifted tee.
